The materials are becoming lighter, and the straps are also becoming narrower in tandem and acro. To prevent them from slipping, increasingly slimmer carabiners are required. However, these have the disadvantage that they do not open wide enough to make it easy to hook in the paraglider risers. With FORAS Steel, it’s different. The 111-gram steel carabiner for belts up to 25 millimeters wide opens sideways! Its breaking strength is actually well above the nominal 28 kN. Thanks to the choice of steel as the material, the carabiner can withstand cyclic loads with higher forces better than its aluminum counterpart and is therefore ideally suited for tandem and acro applications. An automatic twist-lock safety mechanism guarantees optimum handling, while a batch number with the year of manufacture makes it easy to check the maximum service life. Rounded edges ensure optimum strap support for the FORAS. The Antitwist mechanism, specially developed for the Foras, prevents the carabiner from turning sideways, making twisted carabiners and slipped straps a thing of the past. Each individual piece is also machine-tested before it leaves EDELRID.
